Groom, Thelma Beatrice Andrews

Daughter of Iola & Lee Andrews. Mother of Claude “Sonny” Jr., David, Barbara, & Brenda. Born & raised in the center of Waukeenah in her father’s store. She was an exceptional student, making good grades as she attended the Waukeenah and Monticello Schools. She married Claude Groom and raised a family of 4 on the farm west of Waukeenah. When her oldest child, Barbara, started to college, Thelma enrolled also. She was on the Dean’s List and graduated from FSU. She taught school until she retired in the late 1980’s. She and Claude enjoyed gardening, yardwork and stayed busy on the farm.
