Daughter of James Thaddeous & Bessie Connell. Wife of Clayton Martin. Mother of Terry James Martin. Sister to JT, Lester, Kenneth, Bobby and Annie Lou Connell. Betty was born and raised in Waukeenah. She traveled extensively with her husband, Clayton, who retired from the US Air Force. After his retirement, they built a home just west of Waukeenah. She attended the Wacissa United Methodist Church.

Betty Ruth Martin MONTICELLO – Betty Ruth Connell Martin, 71, a retired accountant, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, in Waukeenah. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Clayton Martin. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. EDT Friday at Beggs Funeral Home Monticello Chapel (850-997-5612). Family will receive friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, take a friend out to lunch, and tell them how much you value them. Mrs. Martin was a native of Waukeenah. In her youth she attended the First Methodist Church. She also held numerous memberships, along with her husband, in the Southern Baptist churches where her husband was stationed, including a Southern Baptist missionary church in the Philippine Islands. She was a member of the LLL Club at the First Baptist Church in Monticello. Betty, along with her husband, was an alumna of the Woodville School. They were part of a group that attended during the 1930s. Other survivors include a son, Terry James Martin (and Doriann); a step-granddaughter, Shawn Narhi of Monticello; a sister, Annie Lou White (and Bill) of Tallahassee; three brothers, J.T. Connell (and Frances), Bobby Connell (and Pat) of Tallahassee and Kenneth Connell (and Mary) of Waukeenah; a sister-in-law, Bobbie Connell of Tallahassee; several nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends.
